(Q) How long does a usual full tank of salt last?
(A) The amount of time that the salt will last depends on two things. How many people are in the household? Also, how hard your water is at your home?

The average tank uses @ 300 to 400 pounds of salt. The average softener uses 10 pounds of salt per regeneration. That would be 40 regenerations until your tank would be empty.

The average person uses @ 75 gallons per day. The average hardness is @ 200ppm. (part per million) The average gallons based on 200ppm would be 1000 gallons. If you get @ 1000 gallons of waste, decide by people in the house multiplied by 75 for gallons before regenerations. You can then calculate how often you will need salt.
